About Us
Kay Magee - Founder
Daughter of Hall of Fame basketball coach Herb Magee, Kay has spent her life immersed in both sports and education. She served as Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at Philadelphia University, working alongside her father to run camps, clinics, and fundraising. A lifelong math educator, Kay has taught at both the university and high school levels, blending her passion for teaching with her love of sports. Her vision for the Sports Careers Academy grew out of her belief that every student, athlete or not, deserves to see the wide range of career opportunities available in sports.
Noreen Oakes - Co-Founder
Noreen is the daughter of NBA referee Billy Oakes, whose decades-long career on the court instilled in her a love for the game and respect for the sports industry. Like Kay, Noreen is also a math teacher with over thirty years of experience helping high school students achieve their potential. Her unique perspective as both an educator and the child of a professional referee brings a fresh lens to showing young people the diverse careers that make the sports world thrive.
